Taking its cues from one of the world’s most successful racing machines – the iconic XR750 – the XR1200 range was born out of a desire for a street smart Harley- Davidson motorcycle that is just as dominant through the twisties. Combining American racing heritage with European style, XR1200 motorcycles are built for sheer riding pleasure. Powered by fuel-injected 1202cc engines with precision-cooled cylinder heads, they deliver wave after wave of impressive torque through a 5-speed gearbox down into a bespoke set of Dunlop Qualifier tyres.
First came the original XR1200. Designed with the European rider in mind, it demonstrates agility and focus not traditionally found on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The latest incarnation – 2009’s all-new XR1200X – is as much an upgrade as it is an evolution of the XR concept. The updated styling has a predatory edge: the blacked- out engine casing, upside-down forks, and a matt black tail, tank and fender create a more aggressive presence.
